Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 29th of December.
Good morning, Roseville.
💼 Business
On Friday, Dec. 26, shoppers flocked to Westfield Galleria for post‑holiday deals as merchants reported around 70,000 visitors, reflecting the mall’s resurgence amid the rise of online shopping (families and small businesses enjoyed bonding and last-minute finds).
🌲 Environment
California grocers will no longer offer plastic bags beginning January 2026 because a new law removes the loophole for thicker reusable bags — a change aimed at reducing plastic waste.
Nate Rose from the California Grocers Association noted that retailers may adjust paper bag prices based on store size.
🏛️ Government
A new state law will take effect in October, letting buyers return used cars priced at $50,000 or less within three days, though they may have to pay a restocking fee.
Dealers must also disclose the total price upfront to improve transparency *first* in the nation.
