  • A medical helicopter crashed on Highway 50 Monday evening as witnesses including Kenneth De Crescenzo and Elvin Norman rushed to lift parts of the aircraft so first responders could reach three trapped victims—demonstrating swift local action.  KCRA

FINANCE NEWS

  • Yesterday, Mark Steber from Jackson Hewitt Tax Services appeared on KCRA 3 to explain changes coming to the child tax credit and a new senior deduction as tax season remains months away. He said early planning & professional help will help local residents avoid mistakes when filing their tax returns.  KCRA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that makes Diwali an official statewide holiday. The law, effective Jan. 1, will allow public schools to close and give state employees a day off—acknowledging celebrations from Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists.  KCRA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal health officials warned consumers on Monday not to eat certain Hello Fresh meal kits because spinach in the kits tested positive for listeria—these kits produced by FreshRealm include meals with pork pepper pasta and unstuffed peppers with ground turkey, and samples from pasta made by Nate’s Fine Foods in Roseville also tested positive. Health officials advised customers to check product details and follow recall instructions to avoid serious illness.  KCRA
