  • Feeding the Foothills director Dave Martinez said that federal cuts to CalFresh are costing the food bank about $1 million—neighbors in Roseville, Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties are rallying with food drives during Hunger Action Month.  Roseville Today

  • TEDxWoodcreekHS will host its 2nd Annual event Making Waves at Woodcreek High School Theater on Thursday, September 11 from 7:00—9:00 p.m. Admission is free and community members can hear local students, happiness coaches and siblings sharing ideas that inspire change.  Roseville Today

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Placer County updated its draft 2050 Vision Statement and Guiding Principles after board feedback to add details on housing, conservation, mountain resorts and agricultural lands— it will go before the Board of Supervisors for approval on Oct. 7— inviting public comment from residents.  Roseville Today
  • At its Aug. 21 meeting, the Placer County Water Agency approved the completion notice for a new potable water supply at Middle Meadows Campground—supporting quality recreation in the American River watershed. The 16-month project replaced 2,000 feet of water line and built a vertical well with a $585,000 budget.  Roseville Today

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Lincoln resident was reported as the first human case of West Nile virus in 2025 after the virus was found in five dead birds and 129 mosquito samples—health officials urged residents to use EPA-approved repellent and get rid of standing water to lower the risk of more cases as fall nears.  Roseville Today
