GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Placer County Public Finance Authority approved the formation of the Sunset Area/Placer Ranch Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District following a July 15 public hearing where residents and property owners gave input. The district will use increased property tax revenues—up to $607 million planned for roads, parks, trails, water and sewer systems, and affordable housing—without adding new taxes or fees while covering 4,279 acres west of Route 65. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Preteen girls began the USA Softball Western B National Championship at Maidu and Mahany parks on Tuesday with an opening ceremony that introduced nearly 40 teams from across the region. Teams will begin playing ball today — the tournament runs for six days with final games on July 27 that could bring 2,500 visitors and $1 million to Roseville’s economy. KCRA
