Good morning, Roseville.

Officials reported that illegal fireworks started several wildfires on July 4, including a tree fire near a Folsom home that threatened three houses (contained in 12 minutes) and a vegetation fire by West Park High School in Roseville that spread over 10 acres but damaged no structures.

On July 1, the Placer Conservation Program acquired 264 acres of Mourier West west of Roseville on Sunset Boulevard using $3.2 million in state grants from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and a $41,301 contribution from the Placer Legacy Program.

The property holds 30 acres of vernal pools and over 10 acres along Pleasant Grove Creek — it connects to more than 1,200 acres of conserved land and will be protected by a recorded conservation easement to help safeguard 14 special status species.
