- ➤ The Placer County DA’s Office announced Toast, a one-year-old lab and poodle mix, as its new court support dog to help victims and survivors of crime. Toast, from All Stage Canine Development (a Citrus Heights-based training facility), will assist in victim interviews, court support, and forensic interviews of children. FOX40

- ➤ Folsom Spray Parks and the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center offer free and affordable ways for residents to beat the hot summer with splash pads and pools open daily until late September from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Folsom Lake and the South Fork of the American River also provide extra water fun — visitors should check hours and potential closures before heading out.
