  • The 87th annual Placer County Fair is underway at The Grounds in Roseville, offering carnival rides, concerts, motorsports, fast-running baby pigs and a rib cook-off from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, with more events planned on Saturday and Sunday (including tonight’s lineup with The Wayside at 5 p.m. and Moonshine Crazy at 8:30 p.m.).  FOX40

  • Roseville PD warned residents that fake text messages pretending to be the DMV are sending false claims about unpaid tolls or fines—officials say people should not click links and must use official DMV numbers to check any message.  Roseville Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire safety experts warned that wildfire season nears as dry fuels and extreme weather increase risks, advising residents to clear a 5 ft perimeter around homes and prepare emergency go bags. Local officials are also updating safety rules and water systems—measures that aim to boost community protection against fires.  KCRA
  • Rocklin and Rancho Cordova are reducing wildfire risks by enforcing vegetation management and educating property owners as updated state maps show rising hazard levels over the next 30 to 50 years.
