- ➤ Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving a semi-truck and a regular vehicle on I-80 eastbound near Canyon Way in Colfax as California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed all eastbound lanes and diverted traffic while investigating the crash, with the highway estimated to reopen by 8 a.m. (reopening was expected). - ➤ Saturday was Impact Day in the Valley and Delta as gusty north winds and low humidity raised fire danger—wind gusts reached between 35 and 40 mph along and west of Interstate Five.
