About this event
Book Binding with Artist Michelle Gallardo
Join us for a three-hour book binding workshop with artist Michelle Gallardo and discover the art of creating a book by hand!
Michelle will guide you through the process of creating a Coptic-style hand-bound book , an exposed-spine binding technique that allows your finished book to open beautifully and lay flat. You’ll learn the fundamentals of measuring and cutting paper, preparing your covers, stitching the binding, and using the basic tools of this traditional craft.
Perfect for beginners and anyone interested in book arts, paper crafts, or simply learning a beautiful new hands-on skill. You’ll leave with your own handmade book and the foundational techniques to continue creating at home.
All materials and tools are provided. No previous book binding experience is necessary.
Ages 10+ are welcome to join our workshops with a paid, participating adult.
You’re more than welcome to bring outside snacks to enjoy during the workshop. We also have a selection of dry snacks and cookies available for purchase, along with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to make it a fun creative outing.
