About this event
Botanical Realism in Watercolor: Fall Maple Leaf Study
Celebrate the colors of fall while learning to create realistic maple leaves in watercolor. In this guided botanical study, we’ll focus on layering transparent color, creating natural variation, developing veins and details, and using watercolor techniques to give your leaves depth and dimension.
This is an intermediate-level watercolor class , but adventurous beginners are absolutely welcome! If you’ve taken Watercolor 101 or a few of our watercolor classes, this is a great next step.
We’ll be painting with Daniel Smith professional watercolors on Arches 100% cotton watercolor paper , giving you the opportunity to experience how professional-quality materials affect blending, layering, and pigment movement.
Our palette will include:
• Quinacridone Red
• Pyrrol Orange
• Cadmium Yellow Medium
• Sap Green
• Burnt Sienna
All materials are provided , including professional watercolor pigments, Arches paper, brushes, and ceramic mixing plates. You are also welcome to bring your own pigments, your favorite watercolor brushes , and/or a white ceramic plate for mixing if you prefer to work with your own supplies.
Guided instruction: 3:00–5:00 PM
Optional studio time: Stay for an additional hour, until 6:00 PM , to continue working on your painting at your own pace.
Cost: $40 per person
