Beginner Bridge with Diane Strategos
Learn how to play bridge in a friendly, beginner-focused course at Sierra 2 Center. Instructor Diane Strategos will guide participants through bridge basics, scoring, opening bids, no-trump play, Stayman, transfers, opening leads, carding, and the 2-over-1 bidding system.
The course includes 10 structured lessons and an additional peer-play session, giving participants opportunities to build their knowledge and practice playing hands with others.

Cost: Free, with required book purchase
Experience Level: Beginner
Please note that the November 17 class will meet in The Learnery. The December 1 session will be a peer-play gathering at the Sierra 2 Senior Center.
Required Course Book
Participants must purchase the following book before the first class:
Beginning Bridge Using 2 Over 1 by John Ricker
The book is available through Amazon for approximately $30. The cost of the book is not included with the free class.

October 20: Lesson 1, Chapters 1-2
Introduction, bridge basics, counting, and scoring
October 27: Lesson 2, Chapters 3-6
Basic opening bids, opening majors and minors, and how high to bid
November 3: Lesson 3, Chapter 7
Opening 1 NT and Stayman
November 10: Lesson 4, Chapter 8
2 NT openings, Stayman, and 18-19 point hands
November 17: Lesson 5, Chapters 9-10
No-trump openings and transfers
Location: The Learnery
November 24: Lesson 6, Chapters 11-12
Opening leads, attitude, carding, and discarding
December 1: Peer-Play Session
Practice playing bridge with peers at the Sierra 2 Senior Center
December 8: Lesson 7, Chapters 13-14
2 Over 1 and 1 NT forcing
December 15: Lesson 8, Chapter 15
2 Over 1 game force
December 22: Lesson 9, Chapter 15
Review of the 2 Over 1 game force and rebids
December 29: Lesson 10
Course review and practice hands
